CHEC Library
Coffs Harbour Senior College Library Guide
Getting Started:
-
There are always Librarians on duty on Level 1 of the library ready and willing to help. Please, ask for help if you need it! As well as books, journals and videos, the library offers you access to electronic databases and the internet.
Loans:
-
You may have up to 10 items on loan at a time. Books and videos for 2 weeks. Journals, reference books and Australian Bureau of Statistics pubs are not for loan.
-
Your student ID card is also your library card. Bring it to the Loans Desk with any items you wish to borrow.
-
Report the loss of your card immediately. You are responsible for any items borrowed using your card.
-
Check the last date stamped in the front of the items you borrow. If you return the items on or before this date you will avoid all fines.
Renewals:
-
Items on loan may be renewed twice. You can renew in person, via the web catalogue or by phone, fax or email (see Library Contact page).
-
Renewals are not possible if the item is overdue, reserved by another borrower or if your're borrowing rights have been suspended.
Holds:
-
You can place a hold on any item, which is on loan, at the Loans Desk, or by using your sign-in from the Catalogue. This means that when the item you reserved is returned, it will be held at the Loans Desk for you for 7 days.
- You will be sent a letter from the Library informing you that your reserved item is being held. You can also check the blue board in the library entrance to see if your item has arrived.
Overdue Items and Fines:
-
Two days after the due date, a fine will accrue on overdue items at the rate of $1.00 per item per day up to a maximum of $20 per item. Borrowing privileges are suspended when an item is overdue or when fines reach $20.
-
Fines can be paid at the Loans Desk on Level 1 of the Library.
-
If an item is 30 days overdue, the library system will generate a bill for replacement cost of the item plus a $20 maximum fine and your borrowing privileges remain suspended. Do not ignore this notice. Return the items immediately.
-
See Louise, the Senior College Librarian, if you are unable to find the items, or wish to discuss your fines. She is very friendly
-
In certain circumstances, your fines may be waived, reduced or paid in instalments. Fill in a Request for Fine Exemption form and attach explanatory documentation (i.e. medical cert.) in support of your application.
